Good morning Friend!

I’m so glad you stopped by this morning. Before the day gets away from us, pour yourself another cup of coffee and spend a few quiet minutes with me.

This past week has been a rough one. You know, sometimes it seems like just when you’re trying to do the right things, that’s when the roadblocks begin showing up. As I’ve been trying to take better care of my health and make some changes in my life, it felt like every direction I turned there was another obstacle waiting for me. The stress at work was heavy, my body reminded me that something still isn’t quite right, and before long I could feel the emotional weight of it all settling on my shoulders. It didn’t take long before I found myself carrying things I was never meant to carry.

As I sat with my coffee and Bible this weekend, I kept thinking about a conversation I had with a dear friend of mine—my adopted daughter, as I lovingly call her. We found ourselves laughing because we had both done the exact same thing. We had prayed and asked God to take care of something that was weighing on our hearts. We told Him we trusted Him. Then, almost before the words left our mouths, we started trying to figure out how we could fix it ourselves.

Have you ever done that?

We pray, “Lord, I give this to You,” and then we immediately begin worrying about it again. We replay every possible outcome in our minds, searching for answers that aren’t ours to find. It’s almost as if we tell God, “I need You to take care of this,” and then a few minutes later we

say, “Never mind…maybe I can handle it.”

The more we talked, the more we laughed because we realized just how much alike we are. Then it hit me that we’re probably not alone. I imagine every one of us has done it at one time or another. We ask God to save our lost loved ones, but we continue to worry ourselves sick over whether they’ll ever come to know Him. We ask Him to help us through a health concern, but then we spend hours trying to diagnose ourselves. We ask Him to guide our careers, our marriages, our finances, and our children, but we never really lay those burdens down. We simply shift them from one shoulder to the other.

As I thought about it, Proverbs came to mind.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6, KJV.)

Those verses don’t promise that we’ll always understand what God is doing. They don’t tell us we’ll know why things happen when they do. They simply remind us where our trust belongs.

Maybe that’s our greatest struggle. We don’t necessarily doubt God’s ability; we doubt our ability to let go. We want to know the answer before He gives it. We want to see the whole picture while He’s asking us to trust Him with just the next step. Yet every time I look back over my life, I can see His hand working in ways I never could have imagined at the time.

This week I’m reminding myself that trusting God isn’t something we do once. It’s a decision we make over and over again. Every time fear creeps in, every time worry tries to steal our peace, and every time we find ourselves reaching for a burden we’ve already handed to Him, we have another opportunity to leave it exactly where it belongs.

I’d love to hear from you this morning. Is there something you’ve given to God but keep finding yourself picking back up?

Thank you for spending a few quiet moments with me today. My hope is that when you leave here, you’ll remember that the God who is big enough to save your soul is certainly big enough to carry your burdens.

Until tomorrow…

Keep your coffee warm, your Bible close, and your eyes open for the blessings God places in your path today.

I’ll meet you back here tomorrow—with another cup of coffee and another conversation.

❤️ Mandy
