Learning to Be Me

Good morning, friend.

One of the things I appreciate most about these mornings together is that I can simply be myself. There isn’t any pressure to have all the answers or to pretend life is perfect. It’s just a conversation over a cup of coffee, and I hope it always feels that way.

Lately, I’ve been asking myself some honest questions. Am I focusing on the right things? Is this where God wants me to invest my time? Am I trying too hard to build something that was never meant to look like everyone else’s?

If you’ve ever owned a small business or pursued a dream, you’ve probably asked yourself similar questions. It’s easy to look around and compare ourselves to people who seem more successful, more creative, or more accomplished. Social media has a way of making everyone else’s journey appear effortless while we’re sitting here wondering if we’re doing anything right.

I’ve caught myself doing exactly that. I’m not like everyone else!

The more I thought about it, the more I realized I wasn’t questioning my business as much as I was questioning myself. Somewhere along the way, I had begun measuring my progress against someone else’s calling. God gently reminded me that He never asked me to become someone else. He created me to be Mandy. That realization has brought me so much peace this week.

Three Hearts Keepsakes was never meant to be a business built around selling products. It’s built around people and their stories. When someone places an order with me, I don’t want them to feel like they’re buying something from a stranger. I want to know why they’re ordering it. Is it for an adoption day? A memorial gift? A favorite teacher? A new baby? An anniversary? Every keepsake I make becomes part of someone’s story, and that’s what I love most.

The more I embrace that, the more I realize I don’t need to build my business the way everyone else does. I don’t need to chase every trend or compare my journey to someone else’s success. I simply need to be faithful with what God has placed in front of me.

As I continued reading through Matthew chapter five, I couldn’t help but think about Jesus telling us to let our light shine. A light doesn’t compete with the light beside it. It simply shines where it’s been placed. What a beautiful picture for our lives.

Whether you’re raising children, working outside the home, caring for aging parents, helping in your church, running a business, or quietly encouraging the people God places in your path, your calling matters. It doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s to be valuable.

This week, I’m choosing to stop comparing and start appreciating. I’m thankful that God created each of us with different gifts, different experiences, and different stories to tell. I believe those differences are exactly what He uses to encourage others.
