☕️ Good morning, friends.

Pour yourself a cup of coffee and settle in, because it’s Monday again — and I have a feeling I’m not the only one who needed the weekend to be just a little bit longer.

If you’ve been following along, you know our household has been fighting off some sickness. Yesterday we spent the whole day with Clayton, and I’m happy to report he’s feeling so much better. His fever is finally gone, and now he’s just resting and letting his body catch up. Of course, you know I couldn’t just sit around and wait — out came all my herbal concoctions. Teas, tinctures, honey and lemon, the whole apothecary. When the people I love are under the weather, this mama goes into full doctor mode. There’s something about caring for someone you love that makes you feel useful, even when you can’t fix everything.

But this morning, before my feet even hit the floor, I woke up in prayer. Not a fancy prayer — just the honest, sleepy kind. I prayed that Clayton keeps feeling better, that this week goes smoothly, and that I can keep my eyes on God through all of it.

That last part is the one I keep coming back to: keep my eyes on God.

If I’m being honest, that’s the hardest prayer on my list. Not because God is hard to look at, but because the world is so loud. There’s always something — a busy schedule, a news headline, a to-do list a mile long, worries that sneak in before the sun comes up. Distraction is the enemy’s favorite tool, isn’t it? He doesn’t have to make us bad. He just has to make us busy.

But Scripture gives us the answer in Hebrews 12:2 (KJV): “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Looking unto Jesus. Not looking at my circumstances. Not looking at my calendar. Looking unto Him — the One who started this faith in me and promises to finish it.

But here’s the thing I felt God whisper to my heart this morning, and I want you to hear it too: we don’t have to be perfect. We just have to be better than the day before.

What a relief that is. Some Mondays I feel like I need to come out of the gate with it all together — the perfect quiet time, the perfect attitude, the perfectly organized week. And by 9 a.m. I’ve already dropped the ball somewhere. But God isn’t asking me for perfect. He’s asking me for a little more of my attention than yesterday. A little more trust. A little more gratitude. A few more moments with my eyes on Him instead of on the chaos around me.

That’s growth, friends. And growth is quiet. It’s Clayton’s fever breaking after a day of rest and remedies. It’s choosing prayer before picking up the phone. It’s extending grace to yourself when the day doesn’t go as planned.

So this Monday, I’m not asking for a perfect week. I’m asking for a better one. A week where I notice God in the small things — the steam rising off my coffee mug, the sound of laughter returning to my house, the way a new morning always feels like a second chance.

Wherever this finds you today — whether you’re nursing someone back to health, staring down a long to-do list, or just struggling to keep your eyes on what matters — take heart. You don’t have to have it all figured out. Just take one step forward from where you were yesterday. That’s enough. He’ll handle the rest.

I’d love to hear from you: what’s one small thing you’re asking God for this week? Drop it in the comments — I read every single one, and I’ll be praying over them with my coffee in hand.

Happy Monday, friends. Let’s be better than yesterday — together.

Until next time,

♥️Mandy
