Good morning, friends. ☕❤️

It has become my thing to do this on my way to work and then use my first break at work to actually sit down and post it. So here I am again, coffee in hand, heading toward work, and the very first song that came on the radio this morning was Fear Is a Liar by Zach Williams. And I just had to smile because sometimes God has a way of putting something right in front of you at exactly the moment you need to hear it.

Fear is a liar.

And you know who lies to us? The devil. The devil is a liar, and he cannot be truth. So when fear starts creeping in, when you start feeling overwhelmed, when things aren’t going the way you think they should, and that little voice starts telling you that you’re alone or that you can’t handle what’s in front of you, remember where that voice is coming from.

You are not alone.

You never have to be alone when you lean on God.

Sometimes we feel alone because we’re looking everywhere except where we need to look. We look at the circumstances. We look at the problems. We look at the people around us. We look at everything that could go wrong, and we forget to look up.

That was my thought before I even got to work this morning. And then I started thinking about what today actually holds. We’ve got a big meeting at work this morning with all of our investigators. We have three investigative teams, and I’m the supervisor of one of them, so there’s always plenty going on. I’ve also got some front desk coverage to do, and then there will be the usual collection of things that seem to find their way onto my desk.

Some days, everything just feels crazy. And my job can be a very negative environment. That’s not really a secret. When you’re dealing with difficult situations all day long, it’s easy for the negativity to become the atmosphere around you. Then you add stress, frustration, workplace issues, and all the other things that come with a job, and it can become really easy to carry that negativity home with you.

But I don’t want to do that today.

This morning, one of the first things I prayed was, Lord, help me not lean into the negative today. Because I need joy. I need joy in my life, and honestly, I need joy in my job, too. If I spend the entire day focusing on what’s wrong, what’s frustrating, what’s unfair, what’s stressful, and what isn’t going the way I think it should, I’m going to spend my entire day stressed out and overwhelmed. And then what happens? I take that stress home. I let it affect my family. I let it affect my attitude. I let it affect my relationship with God. And before I know it, I’ve allowed one difficult part of my life to spill into everything else.

I don’t want that.

So today I’m choosing to focus on the positive.

That doesn’t mean I’m going to pretend everything is wonderful. It doesn’t mean difficult things aren’t difficult. It doesn’t mean I’m going to ignore problems that need to be addressed. It means I’m not going to allow those problems to control my attitude.

There’s a difference. And maybe that’s something we all need to remember. We can’t always control what happens around us, but we can be intentional about what we allow to take up residence in our hearts and minds.

That’s where God comes in.

I can’t simply talk about God and then leave Him at church. I can’t write about faith every morning and then leave my faith sitting on the page when I walk into work.

  • I have to bring Him with me.

  • I have to bring Him into that meeting.

  • I have to bring Him to the front desk.

  • I have to bring Him into the difficult conversations.

  • I have to bring Him into the frustrating moments.

And when I start feeling overwhelmed, I have to remember that I don’t have to carry it all by myself.

Tonight I’m finally getting to go to church for Wednesday night prayer service, and I’m thankful for that. We don’t have baseball tonight, so I get to have that time with my church family again. We do have baseball tomorrow, and as much as baseball can make the schedule crazy, I really do love watching my kids do what they enjoy. I loved watching Clayton play baseball when he was younger, and now I love watching him wrestle. I love watching

Garrett play baseball, too. He hasn’t decided whether he wants to pick up a second sport yet. He’s still going back and forth about that one.

But those are the things I want to focus on.

  • The good things.

  • The blessings.

  • The moments that bring joy.

Because there are plenty of negative things that will find us without us having to go looking for them. So today, when I walk through those doors at work, I’m going to try to remember something simple:

Bring God with you.

Don’t leave Him at home.

Don’t leave Him in your Bible.

Don’t leave Him in your morning prayer.

Take Him with you.

Let Him change the way you respond when somebody frustrates you. Let Him change the way you speak when you’re tired. Let Him change the way you see the person who is difficult to deal with. Let Him remind you that the situation you’re facing isn’t bigger than the God you serve.

And when fear starts talking, remember that fear doesn’t get the final word. God does.

Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God.”

That’s what I’m carrying into work today.

Not the fear.

Not the negativity.

Not the frustration.

I’m carrying God with me.

And I’m going to do my best to let my light shine.

Because maybe the person who needs to see a little light today isn’t going to walk into a church. Maybe they’re going to walk into my workplace.

Maybe they’re going to sit across from me.

Maybe they’re going to hear the way I respond when things get difficult.

And maybe, just maybe, they’ll see something different. That’s what I want today. Not to have a perfect day. Not to have a stress-free day. Just to have a day where I remember that God is with me through all of it.

So that’s my goal for today, friends: don’t just talk about Him. Bring Him with you.

Until tomorrow…

Keep your coffee warm, your Bible close, and your eyes open for the blessings God places in your path today. I’ll meet you back here tomorrow—with another cup of coffee and another conversation.

❤️ Mandy
